What they're saying: Likewise was upon its release named Stereogum’s album-of-the-week, where writer James Rettig opines “Quinlan has taken everything she learned from leading a rock band and applied it to creating more dynamic compositions, songs that burble and bounce.” An NPR feature from late January discusses her collaborative spark and diverse arrangements, while Pitchfork calls Likewise “more minimal and elegant than any Hop Along record.”
What we say: The solo debut from the Hop Along front-woman does not disappoint. Its another outlet for her distinct songwriting and one of a kind voice. Likewise gives those qualities just a little more of the spotlight.
