It’s a new week with a new weekly top-ten best-sellers chart posted! One of our most consistent top-ten records managed to move all the way up to number-one this week with Madvillainy by MADVILLAIN taking the top spot! The 2004 collaboration between Madlib and MF Doom has established firmly itself as an underground rap classic, and with it’s regularity in our charts maybe we can call it our rap Dark Side Of The Moon.
Our highest placing new arrival in the charts this week is from MAGGIE ROGERS. Her latest self-produced LP is called Surrender. This is her second full-length following the surprise hit Heard It in a Past Life from 2019. The new one is earning rave reviews, and has found a fan in an ex-president with Barack Obama including a tune on his 2022 playlist!
The other new arrival making this week’s charts is an all-time indie rock classic with a fresh reissue. YO LA TENGO’s 1997 masterpiece I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One has been freshly rereleased. The record is still arguably the New Jersey trio’s high water mark and manages to beautifully blur all sorts of genre boundaries across its run time. We can’t highly enough recommend nabbing a copy before these get scarce again.
