We’ve got the new week’s top-ten best-sellers chart up! We’ve got a new number-one this week, with just a bit of an upset. CHVRCHES 4th full-length Screen Violence slipped past a full line-up of legit pop-stars to steal the top spot! The new one finds the Scottish synth-pop trio picking up nicely from where they left off, this time letting classic horror cinema tropes influence both their sonics and themes. Give a listen!
Speaking of legit pop-stars, HALSEY is back in our charts at number two and is taking some liberties with the sounds you might expect from a singer of her stature. The new record, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, is produced by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor along with his frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. The record, as you might expect, incorporates some darkness and dissonance that makes for what is arguably the artists most accomplished and complete record so far.
Our other new arrival in this week’s top-ten is Other You, the latest full-length from folk rocker STEVE GUNN. It’s his sixth record on his own, not even counting his frequent and excellent collaborations and guest appearances. Expect further refinements on the artist signature laid-back sound, excellent loose arrangements, and tasteful guitar work. Sounds as though he’s squarely in his prime.
