We’ve got a fresh best-seller list up for this week! It’s the week after a Record Store Day event, so almost everything from last week’s list is gone and some old familiar records are back. And at number one we’ve got a familiar face with a brand new record. LEON BRIDGES is back with Gold-Diggers Sound as this week’s top-seller! The soul singer is getting even stronger as a songwriter on his latest, stepping out of the shadows of some of his retro influences. The Guardian even awarded the record a rare five-star review!
Also, we’ve finally got Plantasia by MORT GARSON back in-stock! The pent up excitement almost propelled the synthesizer rarity all the way to number one. The high concept record was recorded and released way back in 1976, with the intention that it be played for the enjoyment of your plants. Turned out it was pretty enjoyable for people too, and in the years since has become a bit of a cult classic. Catch a copy before its a rarity again.
This week’s highest charting new arrival is from CLAIRO with the singer’s second full-length Sling. The young confessional songwriter has taken a decidedly rustic-folky turn on this record. Sling makes for a very subtle but engaging listen. Fans of gentle 70s folkies and intimate indie singer-songwriter sets should take notice.
