What they're saying: An in-depth Pop Matter piece on the history of Feed Me Weird Things nicely sums up its appeal: “The album remains the perfect entry point for folks curious to enter Jenkinson’s unique sound world. The music is shifty and excitable, still giddy with the possibilities of electronic production and technology.” Jazzwise’s Mike Flynn describes Squarepusher’s sound at the time as “barrier busting ‘drill and bass’ beats that really push the envelope, blurring the lines between the played and the programmed to dizzying effect.” And a Pitchfork review ties the record into the broader trends of the time: “Squarepusher’s shared loved of live bass and moody chords reflects the jazz-funk heritage that underpinned a lot of British dance music in the ’90s.”

What we say: An excellent 25th anniversary reissue / remaster of the 1996 LP that’s been terribly scarce for a long time. Perhaps the best Drum N Bass album of all-time. Well worth it.
