Another week is in the books, and we’ve got a fresh best-seller chart posted! Our top two slots are unchanged, but there’s a lot of action deeper into the charts. ST VINCENT held off THE BLACK KEYS for the second straight week to score our number-one record. Daddy’s Home, for those of you that haven’t nabbed a copy yet, reimagines and recasts the sounds of the seventies onto her unique brand of songwriting.
Our highest charting debut this week is Long Lost, the new full-length from LORD HURON. The stately folk-rock combo’s latest is a high concept and ambitious affair. The new record is full of excursions outside the group’s signature sound including extended psychedelic pieces and mock transmissions. But the songs are still there at the quality you’d expect.
We’re also excited to see shop favorite MDOU MOCTAR land a top-ten spot at number eight this week. For the uninitiated, the Tuareg guitarist/singer deals in fiery and sometimes hypnotic Saharan blues. The latest LP Afrique Victime is continues in this tradition and is his first on the Matador record label. Highly recommended.
