For fans of: Bedroom Bound Indie Songwriters
What they're saying: From a Gold Flake Paint article by Tom Johnson: “This new record is of his own making however and it makes for something of a dizzying journey. Written and recorded in quick fashion, the songs were inspired by a writing exercise conceived by the late David Berman of Silver Jews, which saw Lenderman penning 20 isolated lines a day, before scrapping most of them and preserving a few to be used later.” And Stereogum contributes that the record nicely “captures the downtrodden, wry sort of songwriting that Lenderman excels at.”
What we say: My favorite flavor of bedroom rock with the same vibes as Alex G and Spencer Radcliffe. Plus there’s something so warm and southern about a song titled ‘Get the Grill Out of the Rain’. -K
