Our best-selling records of the first week of February are up! Our new number one record is the only holdover from last week’s top-ten, and is a brand new face in our best seller charts. ARLO PARKS debut full-length Collapsed In Sunbeams is a certified hit. The UK singer songwriter has a perfect mix going; sensitivity, confessional lyrics, fresh production, and a stellar voice. Early contender for the sound of 2021.
We’ve got a seven inch at number three! Not only that, it’s local! DUSTY and MEDIUM WEEKEND have the split seven inch at number three in our weekly chart. Dusty, our co-worker Mike’s indie rock band, lend two slightly apocalyptic tunes and synth heavy Medium Weekend hold down the B-Side. The first vinyl outing by one of Seattle’s brightest DIY labels, Den Tapes. Salute!
Otherwise our top-ten this week is absolutely loaded with store favorites (BLACK COUNTY NEW ROAD, JOHN CARPENTER, PHOEBE BRIDGERS, etc) but we need to give some special shine to the top-grade psych excursion that is Deep Fried Grandeur, the record length collaborative jam from RYLEY WALKER and Japan’s KIKAGAKU MOYO. This one is a highly improvisational journey to the center of the mind, and comes HIGHLY recommended. Also, you aren’t going to see this on the shelves everywhere, get it while you can.
