Charts Recap: August 2nd - 8th, 2020

Hey everybody! We’re working on getting back to some normalcy here at the shop, this week we’ll get back to our weekly tradition of sharing our top-ten sellers of the past week. We haven’t put one of these top-tens up since March! Anyway, we’ve got a whole new batch of records burning up the charts. Neil Young’s long lost record Homegrown is the number one record this week. This was originally recorded, and shelved, back in the late 70s. And quite honestly these tracks stand up to his EXCELLENT output of that era. Don’t skip. Also, vinyl might not be around forever.

We’ve also got a strong chart showing from Fontaines DC with their latest full-length A Hero’s Death. This is their third record, and maybe their best. It’s a rocker, and full of high quality tough songwriting too. This was a strong enough outing by the Dublin band to merit a rare five star review from The Guardian! Check it out.

Also the welcome and wonderful reissue of obscure Japanese ambient masterpiece Green by Hiroshi Yoshimura from Light In The Attic Records has landed at a solid number 3. Originally released in 1986, this is high class sound design, very recommendable to fans of Brian Eno’s work from the same era. And this is on the heels of the LITA labels excellent work resurrecting so much lost and inaccessible music from the 1970s and 80s Japan.
