For fans of: Next-gen slacker rock
What they're saying: Disq’s debut is garnering rave reviews, DIY Mag says the record “is a chronicle of teenage life in middle America so sharply observed that you could cut yourself on it.” Collector also scored a four star review from The Guardian, praising the band’s youthful charm. And from a review in Under The Radar: “Disq's affection for bygone eras of rock and pop music is evident. These songs feel indebted to everything from grunge to Weezer to power pop, but bring these sounds together into one album.”
What we say: One of the funnest releases from the excellent recent slate of new Saddle Creek signees. There is obviously a big 90s influence here, but this is more than a nostalgia trip. The sound is a perfect backdrop for their takes on daily life and contemporary malaise.
