With another week in the books we’ve got another fresh set of best-seller charts. Thom Yorke continues his weeks long stint as our best selling artist on vinyl while CCR choogle their way into number one in our CD charts. This was their decades long unavailable Woodstock set. One of the all-time great rock-n-roll ensembles stretch out live.
In much sadder news, this week saw the passing of perhaps the indie-rock world’s finest songwriter poet in David Berman. At least I know I’m not alone in looking to his records for solace after such awful news. American Water (#3 in vinyl) by the Silver Jews is one of the closest things you’ll find to a consensus classic of its time, and the Purple Mountains record (#2 in CDs) has a whole new heft to its explorations of depression now. He will be most missed.
