Time for another set of best-seller charts at Sonic Boom! Though our top ten was fairly stable this past week we do have a brand new number one record. Ghosteen from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds continues one of the best deep-career runs of high quality albums we can think of. Nick Cave and co.’s output across this decade has been nothing short of excellent. The new record continues his previous explorations of grief and loss and makes for a deep and emotional listening experience. We expect nothing less.
We also finally received our copies of FKA Twigs latest record Magdalene and see it at #3 this week. The record has been garnering great reviews across the board. Pitchfork called it “limitlessly innovative” and Stereogum named it their record of the week. She is absolutely at the cutting edge of what pop-music can be in 2019.
Our other new entry into this week’s charts is a familiar name. Bob Dylan’s thousandth entry into his always high-quality bootleg series is Travelin Thru. This edition finds Bob c. 67-69 in the studio with Mr. Johnny Cash. The two mutual fans tended to bring out the better qualities in each other, it makes this a fun historical document for Dylan fans casual or obsessive.
