Charts Recap: October 1st - October 7th, 2018

Okay, I think this week has the most new entries in our best-seller charts so far this year. Lot’s of exciting stuff has been released so far in the young month of October! We’re excited to have new ones from store favorites CAT POWER, PHOSPHORESCENT, and HIGH ON FIRE in both charts.

Number one in vinyl though goes to the Sub Pop issued soundtrack to the cartoon comedy Rick & Morty. It’s like we’ve got out own szechuan sauce situation! These LPs are actually beautiful packages, and beyond being loaded with zany spaced-out sounds, they make a fun and fine fan’s collectible. View a proper unboxing:

The bottom half of our vinyl top-ten is loaded with certified proper ragers, from Coheed & Cambria’s sci-fi prog-core to Kikagaku Moyo’s wild-eyed psychedelia, and monstrous new sounds from High On Fire and Windhand. Windhand, if you haven’t heard yet, have developed a bit of a cult of their own. They are a female fronted melodic Virginia doom ensemble at the height of their powers. Listen now!

And down in our CD charts Tom Petty is on top. The An American Treasure collection is a different twist on the posthumous anthology, tending more toward the unsung favorites, and unheard rarities. Highly recommended If you can’t get enough TP. Elsewhere in the CDs we’ve got locals Cumulus debuting in our best-sellers, and another lost one with Mac Miller’s Swimming at number 9. RIP Mac.
