Charts Recap for June 27th - July 3rd, 2022
We’re back from the long holiday weekend with a fresh weekly top-ten best-seller chart ready to go! Our top three records from last week still rule the top of the charts with a little shuffling and a new number-one. THE SMILE has edged out Harry for number-one this week with their debut A Light For Attracting Attention. For the uninitiated, The Smile is the brand new band from Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead joined here by the brilliant drummer Tom Skinner (Sons Of Kemet). Some are calling this the finest Radiohead side-band yet!
Deeper in our charts we have a few key restocks making their presence felt. At eight is the 2018 debut EP from supergroup BOYGENIUS which, in case you forgot, features Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. Get a copy before it sells out again! And right behind it at nine is Masana Temples, the 2018 LP from the righteous Japanese psych rockers KASAGAKU MOYO. This is the first time its been back on our shelves in years!
And we don’t see any truly new music in our charts until way down at number ten with the latest from Seattle rooted artist PERFUME GENIUS. Ugly Season is the title of the new LP and it is the sixth full-length from Mike Hadreas. Originally conceived as a soundtrack to the modern dance piece The Sun Still Burns Here, the sounds here are as ambitious and well crafted as you’ve come to expect.
