Charts Recap for March 7th - 13th, 2022
We’ve got our new weekly top-ten best-sellers chart up! The new week sees a new number-one record too. The second collaborative EP from KHRUANGBIN & LEON BRIDGES titled Texas Moon was this week’s most popular record. This is the slightly smoother and more nocturnal follow-up to 2020’s Texas Sun. The recipe is perfect: Khruangbin bring their psych tinged funk, Leon brings a once in a generation voice, the combo is a winner.
Another collaborative record is making waves at number four too, with this week’s best-selling new reissue being the self-titled DUKE ELLINGTON & JOHN COLTRANE LP. This was originally released in 1963 on the legendary Impulse label. The new talent (at the time) of Coltrane is channeled into a set of standards by the master of the form in Ellington. Classic stuff.
And this week’s top new music comes from JENNY HVAL with her new record Classic Objects placing at number eight. This is the eighth record from the Norwegian singer/producer, and maintains her high standard of quality. Expect airy minimal electronic production and Jenny’s unique vocals. Give a listen!
