Charts Recap: April 26th - May 2nd, 2021
Its a new week with a new set of weekly best-sellers! We’ve got a new number-one record too! MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA’s The Million Masks of God swept into the top spot this week after hitting shelves Friday. This might be the high drama indie-rock vets first trip to the top of the Sonic Boom charts despite many past chart appearances. Dig into their world in an expansive interview with the band at Stereogum.
We’re also thrilled to have an entirely brand new band in our charts for the first time. CRUMB, the NYC psych-rock / slowcore combo, have landed their full-length Ice Melt at number three. Fans of Slowdive and the like would be wise to check out their darkly tinged subtle soundscapes.
Our number five record is another Sonic Boom chart debut! Zelda & Chill by MIKEL is the German producer’s homage to the famous Nintendo Legend of Zelda franchise. Picture lo-fi hop versions of the familiar video game score. Essential piece for the hybrid gamer / record-nerd.
