Charts Recap: February 15th - 21st, 2021
Another week’s top-ten best-sellers is up! ARLO PARKS has her third straight number-one chart placement in three weeks. Collapsed In Sunbeams is the official record of February 2021! For the uninitiated, you must hear this year’s rising star. The record has a fresh feel and nicely toes the line between accessible and confessional. It’s an easy record to recommend.
Also DELVON LAMARR ORGAN TRIO is back in the charts! I Told You So, the group’s second studio full-length, is finally back-in-stock and placing a strong number two. The Seattle soul-jazz trio’s sound is a super tight throwback to the sounds of the late sixties, and the production here is crisp and authentic. One of our favorite local acts going right now.
And the only other new release in our nostalgia heavy top-ten this week is BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD’s For The First Time at number ten. The UK band is part of that nation’s recently prolific underground rock world that’s producing some truly unique sounds. You can hear echoes of math-rock / post-punk / art-rock of other eras in a wholly new context. Very strong first outing from the group.
