Charts Recap: September 13th - 19th, 2020
We had a near total refresh of our weekly top-ten sellers this week! This include a new number one, which just arrived this week. It’s no surprise around here when Run The Jewels have a new record, it’s going to see some action on our charts, this one debuting in our top spot! These two are still killing it on RTJ4, and a healthy dose righteous rage is just what the doctor ordered right about now. Still have a few different versions of this one available!!
John Dwyer and co are also back in our charts at number two with a new record and a new variation on the name. Now they’re Osees and that record is Protean Threat. They’re prolific but they keep the quality up. This incarnation is maybe a touch more scrappy and direct than the last, call it back to the basics. We hear a new record is already in the works too!
We’re also happy to see Thelonious Monk score his first top-ten chart placement at our shop! The recently unearthed Palo Alto record is a live session from 1968, where the jazz great got roped into a performance at a California high school. This was toward the end of one of Monk’s most productive and successful eras and this recording is a welcome snapshot of a great band in a great moment.
