Other Music Documentary
The last month has been a lonely and tough one for everyone. We’re all going without so much of what makes our lives and our communities so rich and wonderful. If you're reading this, a little bit of what your missing out on likely includes the occasional (or frequent) stops at the local record shop. Well, at least you can now rent & watch the Other Music documentary to get a shot of that missing Record Store Culture in your life, and some of the proceeds will help support us while we’re on our lockdown hiatus.
Record store CULTURE is what this new film is all about. Other Music was a long running record shop in New York City, and was one of the top operations to ever to do it. Their ethos was built around discovering and championing amazing sounds while building a strong music community, something we’d like to think we share down in our store’s DNA. We even shared some staff with them over the years. They closed up back in 2016, but the new documentary from Puloma Basu and Rob Hatch-Miller manages to immortalize the store’s story. Check out the trailer linked down below.
And if you rent the doc through our link, a little chunk of the proceeds go toward supporting Sonic Boom Records while we ride this thing out. We hope you enjoy this chance to learn the story of Other Music, and in the process get a glimpse into what it’s like to live this record store work.
