Staff Picks: The Cry - Beautiful Reasons
For fans of: Discoveries in 80’s post-punk / UK style underground-pop
What they're saying: Learn the record’s story from the Jangle Pop Hub blog, which describes Beautiful Reasons as an “ultimately cool mix of the cool sparse and dark arrangements of early 80's post-punk and the late 80's jangle sound of crystal clear chiming guitars.” And get a little more history from a feature on Glide Magazine: “Beautiful Reasons, which only had a limited cassette release, became a thing of legend. THE CRY’s heartfelt vocals, jangly guitars, upbeat drumming, and distinct bass lines never stopped attracting new fans, or growing in the hearts of old fans.”
What we say: Great lost record back in circulation. Originally released back in 1990 this will be a welcome listen to any and all who’ve worn out their Cure and Echo & The Bunnymen records. Oddly the closest this record came to notoriety was its prominent placement in the 1990 skateboard video Hokus Pokus, considered by some one of the more iconic skateboarding videos ever!
