Charts Recap: September 16th - 22nd, 2019
We’ve got up or first best-seller charts of the Fall and there is a new top-seller this week! It’s Face Stabber from Oh Sees! (who dropped Thee this go-around.) Though the record has been available for a bit, the hotly anticipated vinyl edition finally landed this week, re-upping its chart placement. The group is still re-imagining heavy-psych sounds for the 21st century. We’ll leave the video for ‘The Daily Heavy’ here as it’s quite a trip.
Elsewhere in our charts we’ve got Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes with her solo debut at number 2 after a solid first week. The record is called Jaime in honor of her recently passed sister. Pitchfork calls her solo work “bolder, freakier, riskier, more experimental, not just deeply personal but cuttingly political, sometimes quietly tender, sometimes brutally direct.”
Also we had the joy of hosting Hibou on our stage this past week and his new record Halve is in the number six spot. This is the third Hibou record and he’s crafted a sound of chilled atmospheric indie pop that makes and holds a certain mood. Give a listen.
