Charts Recap: 6th - 12th, 2019
We’ve got another week in the books, and our number one & twos have swapped. Vampire Weekend’s Father Of The Bride is atop our charts this week with the new Tacocat at number two, both highlighted last week. What’s new this week?
Our hottest debut in the charts this week is the new Mac Demarco record. The slacker hero is true to his sound on this one, laid back as ever. Here Comes The Cowboy if anything is even more laid back! In Rolling Stone’s dive into the making of the record finds Mac saying he’s seeking “what makes me feel peaceful”.
The new Big Thief record is still hanging out high in the charts, and is getting rave reviews. We’ve been fans as long as we’ve known them, and their latest is a nice evolution of their sound. Softer and more mysterious than their previous, it is a great listen for fans or an introduction to the uninitiated.
Let’s give some love to the old Meat Puppets too. Their new one Dusty Notes has been lurking around our CD charts for weeks now! Here is a band well over thirty years into their run deeply comfortable with their sound. These guys have some certified classics under their belt, and are still finding fresh angles on their dusty desert psych punk twang.
