Charts Recap: April 1st - 7th, 2019
It’s our last set of weekly charts before all the RSD goodies take over here next week. Durand Jones is back atop our vinyl sellers, which I’m sure he’ll be hanging around near for a good while. While our number one CD is the newest record from Sonic Boom alum Telekenisis!
Telekinesis, if you aren’t familiar, is the project of one Michael Lerner and company making simply and smartly crafted indie-pop. Effluxion (out now on Merge Records) is his fifth full-length and a solid entry in a brilliant catalog, another burst of effortless feeling perfect pop music. Give it a listen.
We’ve also got Titanic Rising from Weyes Blood making a strong debut in our charts. The new record (released last week by Sub Pop) has been garnering rave reviews and is perhaps her strongest yet. (It even made an appearance in our latest First, Last, and Favorite column!) It’s a record of expertly made contemporary art-rock, highly recommended.
Elsewhere we’ve got Priests, Son Volt and the Melvins breaking into the charts for the first times of 2019 along with plenty of familiar sellers for the year so far. See our full charts below:
