Charts Recap: February 11th - 17th, 2019
It’s a brand new week with two brand new Sonic Boom Top-Tens! It’s a mixed bag this week with new and old players throughout our charts. Let’s look at some of the interesting records we’ve been selling.
We’ve got a new vinyl number one! Almost 40 years after he crashed into our musical consciousness with Husker Du we’ve got the brand new Bob Mould record at number one! And it’s a record of relentlessly positive pop-rock at that. Even sugarier than Sugar! With Sunshine Rock Bob is wearing his love for classic pop like the Beatles on his sleeve.
Number two is an interesting one too! Idles is a new UK punk group who’s word-of-mouth rep is slowly spreading. Mike told y’all about it last year. Fresh and cathartic contemporary punk rock that comes highly recommended. Hear it today.
Lastly let’s look at Light In The Attics latest ambient/new-age anthology Kankyo Ongaku, which is also part of their unfolding Japanese Archives series. It’s a beautifully packaged journey through some truly exotic atmospheres and has a suitably expansive runtime. It made it to the middle of both top-tens. Probably a future staff-pick.
