Charts Recap: February 4th - 10, 2019
We might have had a wacky snow week, but we’re still also SELLING RECORDS!
Our vinyl number one this week is Beiut’s 5th full-length, Gallipoli. This one finds the band dusting off the old farfisa that made them indie darlings in the first place. Still a top name in global-twee, give a listen to the single ‘Landslide.’
We’re thrilled to see California folk oddity, and long time store favorite, Jessica Pratt in our top-ten too! Quiet Signs, her latest, is indeed quiet but also dreamy and mystical. It’s a great introduction to the artist, in-fact Pitchfork says its her best record yet.
Down in the CD charts we’ve got some old names with new products popping into the top-ten. Mercury Rev is back with a tribute to Bobbie Gentry, we’ve got deluxe Buzzcocks reissues making an appearance, there is of course the irrepressible Bob Mould continuing his late career renaissance, and the return of The Specials! Encore is their first record of original material in over three decades, and is atop the UK charts right now! Amazing how relevant they’ve remained without having to change up their MO too terribly much.
