Charts Recap: August 27th - September 2nd, 2018
Bumbershoot is over and September has begun, and after taking a day off counting our record sales we've got our new top-ten best-seller lists ready for y'all!
DCFC holds on as our best selling CD, but we've got a new number one in the vinyl department. Mitski's Be The Cowboy was our best-seller overall this week! It's an even more ambitious album than her breakthrough, Puberty 2, and I wouldn't be surprised if it hangs out in out top-ten for a long time to come!
This week also marks the return to our charts of the mighty Alice In Chains. Rainier Fog is their 6th full-length, the third of their 21st century reboot. The new one catches them leaning into that classic doom metal edge of their sound that's always been there, check it out!
Elsewhere in strong debuts; Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and Aaron Dessner (The National) teamed up as Big Red Machine, gracing us with a self-titled record full of ambitious experimental studio-pop. Blood Orange dropped his Negro Swan CD, we'll keep you posted on a vinyl edition. And lastly, local songwriter Whitney Ballen debuts on our charts with the wonderful You're A Shooting Star, I'm A Sinking Ship, which we've been playing a bunch at the shop!
